Black-Tinted Cars Violate the Law Openly

Sambalpur: Sambalpur city streets are filled with black-tinted cars moving around freely, openly violating government laws and Supreme Court orders. Many influential individuals continue to use black window films on their cars, ignoring the strict prohibition.

According to the law, only VIPs and high-security personnel are allowed to use tinted windows. However, in Sambalpur, many others are illegally applying black films to their cars. Surprisingly, police and transport officials are not taking action against these violations.

Past Action Led to Officer Transfers

In previous instances, authorities tried to stop vehicles with illegal tinted windows. However, due to pressure from powerful individuals, some police and transport officials faced transfers. As a result, enforcement efforts have slowed down, and now, the police seem unwilling to act against violators.

Supreme Court’s Strict Ban on Black-Tinted Windows

After the Nirbhaya case, the Supreme Court strictly banned black-tinted windows. The court highlighted that such vehicles were often used in crimes like kidnapping, sexual harassment, and robbery. The directive clearly stated that any car using black films should be treated as violating the law.

However, government departments in Sambalpur are showing no urgency in enforcing this rule. While other cities impose heavy fines on violators, Sambalpur police remain silent spectators despite witnessing the violations. This inaction has sparked discussions among intellectuals and concerned citizens.

Lack of Police Crackdown on Illegal Tinted Windows

Police regularly crack down on drunk driving, riding without helmets, using mobile phones while driving, and other traffic violations. However, when it comes to black-tinted cars, enforcement is almost nonexistent. Many believe that since these cars belong to influential people, the police deliberately ignore them.

Traffic station in-charge Chandramohan Singh admitted that no checks have been conducted yet. He also confirmed that the SP has not issued any orders regarding black-tinted vehicles. However, he assured that once instructions come, action will be taken strictly.

For now, the public is waiting to see whether the authorities will finally act or continue turning a blind eye to this blatant violation of the law.
