Sambalpur: Bloody Holi in Sambalpur; Youth Murdered in Sahu Colony, Victim’s Mother Demands Death Penalty for Accused

Murder in Sahu Colony

Sambalpur: Sambalpur witnessed a brutal murder, turning the Holi celebrations into a bloodbath. Aditya Salema, an 18-year-old youth from Sahu Colony, was stabbed to death in a planned attack. The police have arrested the accused, Sahul Singh (25), and presented him in court on Sunday.

Former Friends Turn Enemies

According to Aditya’s family, he and Sahul were once close friends. However, a dispute led to a fallout, and they stopped talking. Their enmity escalated over time, ultimately resulting in Aditya’s tragic murder.

Planned Attack During Holi Celebrations

On the day of Holi, people in the neighborhood were singing and dancing. Around 2:30 PM, Sahul called Aditya from his house, asking him to join the celebrations. Unaware of the danger, Aditya stepped outside and started dancing with the children in the neighborhood.

Suddenly, Sahul, who had hidden a knife beforehand, attacked Aditya from behind and stabbed him multiple times. After committing the crime, he fled the scene immediately. Aditya’s uncle, who was present, witnessed the horrifying incident.

Aditya’s Death and Rising Tensions

Severely injured, Aditya was rushed to the district hospital, but doctors declared him dead. His tragic death sparked outrage in the community, and tensions in the area escalated.

Mother Demands Death Penalty

Aditya’s grieving mother has demanded the death penalty for Sahul. Meanwhile, the police have arrested him. Reports suggest that Sahul has a tattoo on his hand, indicating his affiliation with a particular group.

Possible Connection to Drug Trade

A few months ago, a woman was also murdered in Sahu Colony. Investigations at the time linked the incident to the illegal Corex drug trade. Police suspect that Aditya’s murder might also be connected to the same drug business.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities believe further inquiries will reveal the exact motive behind the crime.
