Businessman’s Son Kidnapped Over Money Dispute

Sambalpur: Two criminals kidnapped a businessman’s son over a financial dispute. However, today, the police arrested both kidnappers and successfully rescued the victim from a hotel.

Pawan Agarwal, a businessman from Mahavir Gali, Khetrajpur, Sambalpur, currently resides in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. His 21-year-old son, Raman, traveled to Rourkela on January 25 for some work. During his visit, Gyanaranjan Patra (19) from Mudipada, Adarsh Colony, and Ayush Kumar Sahani (21) from Mohanty Para kidnapped him.

After abducting Raman, the kidnappers called his father, Pawan Agarwal, demanding ransom. This morning, Pawan reported the incident to the Khetrajpur police station, prompting officers to launch an immediate investigation. As a result, the police arrested Gyanaranjan and Ayush and rescued Raman from River Inn Hotel in Sambalpur. The police presented the kidnappers in court today.

Kidnapping Over a Loan Dispute

According to SDPO Anil Kumar Pradhan, the kidnappers first took Raman to Gyanaranjan’s house before shifting him to River Inn Hotel, located just a few hundred meters from Khetrajpur police station.

The motive behind the kidnapping was a financial conflict. Earlier, Gyanaranjan had lent Rs. 9.33 lakh to Raman. Although Raman returned a part of the money, he and his family later left Sambalpur and moved to Raipur. Despite multiple reminders, Raman failed to repay the remaining amount, making Gyanaranjan furious.

When Gyanaranjan learned that Raman was traveling to Rourkela, he and Ayush abducted him and brought him back to Sambalpur. Later, they called Pawan Agarwal, demanding the pending amount.

Swift Police Action

After receiving the complaint, the police acted quickly. They arrested Gyanaranjan and Ayush, charged them in court, and rescued Raman from the hotel.

This kidnapping case has created a sensation across Sambalpur.
