Juvenile Thieves Roam at Night
Sambalpur: The Ainthapali police station area has become increasingly unsafe, raising serious concerns among local residents. Even before the Manappuram gold robbery case has been fully investigated, fresh questions are emerging about the effectiveness of police patrolling.
Children Caught on CCTV Stealing
Late last night, a group of boys climbed the boundary wall of a house in Jagannath Colony and broke in. CCTV footage captured nearly five boys entering the house one after another around 1 AM. Shockingly, most of them appeared to be minors. They stole some items and quickly fled the scene.

One Juvenile Handed Over to Police
Fortunately, locals managed to catch one of the juveniles and handed him over to Ainthapali police. Residents suspect that these children might be involved in drug abuse, especially addicted to cough syrup, which could be pushing them into crime.
Residents Question Police Patrolling
Despite the Sambalpur police receiving 15 new patrol vehicles recently, locals are questioning the visibility and presence of patrols in their neighborhoods. People from Jagannath Colony specifically asked: “Where is the police patrolling happening?”
Bold Thefts Raise Bigger Questions
If criminals, especially minors, are confidently breaking into homes in central areas of the city, residents worry that the police’s response and strategy might be lacking. As a result, serious concerns are being raised about police effectiveness in the Ainthapali region.
