Sambalpur: Although the road from Gopalmal to Fatak is made of concrete, it is now completely filled with potholes. In some places, large craters have opened up, while in others, parts of the road have broken off. This is not limited to one or two spots nearly the entire 2-kilometer stretch is in a miserable state.
Road Filled with Potholes
The road from Bareipali Gurunanak School Chowk to Fatak has become a nightmare for local residents and daily commuters. Despite being a concrete road, it is now severely damaged, and even riding a two-wheeler has become extremely difficult. The condition of the roadside drains is equally bad, as many have collapsed.

Risk of Accidents Increasing
Due to the poor road and broken drains, there is a high risk of accidents at any time. Authorities had earlier announced during a planning meeting that they would pay special attention to repairing city roads before the Sheetal Sasthi festival. However, the condition of this road still remains unchanged.
Blame Game Between Departments
Even after repeated complaints by Gopalmal residents demanding repairs, no real action has been taken. The municipal corporation, when approached, passed the responsibility to the Rural Development (RD) Department by calling it an “RD road.”
Despite several complaints from locals, no effective solution has been implemented yet.
