Sambalpur: Government Approves Airlift Facility at Vimsar; 4.240 Acres of Land Transferred for HEMS Setup

Air Lift Facility Soon at Vimsar

Sambalpur: The premier healthcare institution of Western Odisha, Vimsar (Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research), is now set to enhance its services further. Notably, critically ill patients will soon benefit from airlift (helicopter) emergency services, marking a significant upgrade in the region’s medical infrastructure.

Government Starts Land Transfer Process

To make this facility a reality, the administrative process has already begun. A total of 4.240 acres of government land under Plot No. 845 in Burla is set to be transferred to the Department of Health and Family Welfare. This land will be used to set up a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) base.

Land Status to be Converted First

Before the transfer, the land status will be changed from ‘Unirrigated Barren Land’ to ‘Fallow Land’. The land was previously classified as part of the Berna Unirrigated and Bahal Unirrigated zones.

Public Notice Issued

The Sambalpur Sadar Tahsildar’s office has already initiated the legal process. A land transfer case has been registered as Case No. 5/2025, and a public notice was issued on April 4, 2025 (PR No. 73/4.4.2025) for transparency and public awareness.
