Sambalpur: Poor-Quality Work in Dhankauda-Bhutapada Road Construction; Local Residents Complain

Road Repairs Causing Problems for Commuters

Sambalpur: Sambalpur residents are complaining about poor-quality road construction in the city. Many major roads are under the Public Works Department (PWD), but their condition remains poor. Currently, several roads are undergoing repairs in the name of maintenance, making commuting difficult for people.

Substandard Work on Dhankauda-Bhutapada Road

One of the main roads connecting the city to the National Highway, the Dhankauda-Bhutapada Road, is under reconstruction. However, locals claim that the work is of extremely low quality. This road was built recently, but it is already being repaired again. Many believe that the repairs are just a way to benefit contractors rather than improve the road quality.

Lack of Supervision by Officials

Residents have also raised concerns that no government officials are present to supervise the construction work. The PWD office is just a few hundred meters away from the site, yet no officials are monitoring the project. Due to this negligence, the road construction is being done carelessly and with substandard materials.

Authorities Remain Silent on Quality Issues

When questioned about the issue, PWD officer G. Meher admitted that the road had become damaged, so repairs were necessary to ensure smooth transportation. However, he did not comment on the allegations of poor-quality work.

Demand for District Collector’s Intervention

Given the current situation, locals are demanding that the District Collector personally inspect the roadwork and take action against those responsible for poor construction quality.
