Sambalpur: Prameya Ojaswini Voting Rath Flagged Off Today in Sambalpur; To Travel Across 9 Districts of Western Odisha

Sambalpur: ‘Prameya’ and ‘News-7’ have launched the Prameya Ojaswini Award 2024 to honor outstanding women. This grand event began on Thursday from the sacred Maa Samaleswari Temple in Sambalpur. Officials have flagged off the Prameya Ojaswini Voting Rath to collect public votes and recognize three exceptional women from Western Odisha.

Voting Rath to Cover Nine Districts

The Rath will travel across nine districts: Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Balangir, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Nuapada, and Boudh. It will visit district headquarters, sub-divisions, blocks, and other key locations to gather public votes. Citizens are encouraged to visit the Rath and vote for their favorite Ojaswini nominee.

Selection Process and Grand Award Ceremony

The selection committee will select winners and runners-up based on public voting. The organizers will hold a grand Prameya Ojaswini Award Ceremony in Sambalpur to honor these inspiring women. Like every year, the organizers received nominations from various parts of Western Odisha, and the committee has shortlisted three remarkable women.

Meet the Three Finalists

1. Sanghamitra Patel (Bargarh) – She is a compassionate leader who helps perform the last rites of unclaimed deceased individuals through her initiative, ‘Shmashan Saathi’.
2. Janaki Bhoi (Balangir) – A former migrant laborer, she transformed into a guiding light for women farmers. As the Board Director of a Producer Company, she has empowered over a thousand women by teaching them self-reliance.
3. Shantilata Ghadei (Sambalpur) – After her husband lost his job, she refused to give up. She broke gender stereotypes by becoming a tyre mechanic, inspiring many others with her determination.
