Devotees Brave the Heat for Maa Samalei’s Darshan
Sambalpur: Despite the scorching summer heat, devotees are still coming from far and wide to visit Maa Samalei Temple even during the afternoon hours. However, after a report in Samaja highlighted that devotees’ feet were burning due to the hot temple floor, the temple administration took quick action to resolve the issue.
Temple Administration Takes Immediate Steps
Following the report, the temple authorities arranged essential facilities to protect devotees from the heat. As a result, devotees are now expressing relief and satisfaction.
Green Carpet Laid for Comfort
Earlier, the stone path inside the temple premises would become extremely hot, making it painful for devotees to walk barefoot. Now, the temple committee has laid thick green carpets along the path, allowing people to walk comfortably without burning their feet.

Refreshing Mist Sprays Installed
Moreover, fragrant mist sprays have been installed along the barricades. These operate regularly, preventing the ground from heating up and lightly spraying water over devotees, which provides a cooling effect. Devotees now appear much more comfortable and relaxed during their visit.
Footwear Allowed Up to the Courtyard
Previously, devotees were asked to leave their footwear outside the main gate. This meant walking barefoot over hot stones, which was very uncomfortable. However, after Samaja’s report brought attention to this issue, the temple committee has now allowed devotees to wear footwear up to the temple courtyard.
More Improvements Coming Soon
In addition, the temple committee announced that jute or coir mats will be installed in the coming days to further improve the comfort of visitors.
