Sambalpur: Around 11 AM today, an unexpected accident occurred at Panchagochhia Chowk in Sambalpur. A loaded highway truck (Hyva) was moving from the National Highway towards Vikas Hospital Road when one of its rear tyres suddenly burst.

Flying Stone Hits Auto Windshield

Due to the sudden tyre burst, a large stone lying on the road got flung into the air. At the same time, an auto-rickshaw was coming out from the Vikas Hospital road towards the highway. The flying stone hit the auto’s front glass (windshield), shattering it completely.

Driver Seriously Injured

The broken glass pieces injured the auto driver on his hands and face, causing severe bleeding. People nearby quickly rushed him to Vikas Hospital for treatment.

Panic Among Passengers and Pedestrians

Meanwhile, the passengers inside the auto panicked and ran away from the spot. The shattered glass also injured a woman and a child who were riding a nearby motorcycle.

Later, people discovered that the truck driver had fled the scene after the tyre burst, leaving the vehicle behind.
