Sambalpur: Woman Falls Victim to Blackmail After Taking Mobile App Loan; Threatened with Viral Nude Photos

Sambalpur: A woman in Sambalpur has become a victim of blackmail after borrowing money through a mobile app. Shockingly, an employee of the lending company threatened to make her nude photos viral if she failed to repay the loan on time. Distressed by this, the woman has filed a complaint at Govindpur police station. The police have already registered a case and started an investigation.

How It All Started

According to the complaint, the woman, a resident of Bamra VAS Colony, borrowed Rs. 3,910 from a private finance company through a mobile app on May 13. To get the loan, she had to provide full access to the data on her mobile phone. The company informed her that she had to repay the full amount with interest within a week.

Partial Repayment and Rising Pressure

Soon after, the woman managed to repay Rs. 2,406 in two installments. However, the company kept pressuring her to immediately clear the remaining amount along with additional interest.

Hacking, Photo Editing, and Threats

Since the woman struggled to repay, the company allegedly hacked her phone, accessed her photos, videos, and call records, and shockingly, edited her photos in an obscene manner. They even sent these edited images to her husband. Moreover, they threatened to make the photos viral on the internet if the payment was not made soon.

Husband Forced To Pay More

Terrified, the woman’s husband ended up paying an additional Rs. 18,000 to the company. However, when the company continued to demand even more money, the couple decided to approach the police for help.
