Sambalpur: A newborn baby stolen from Vimsar, Burla, has not been found even after 30 hours. The police are working relentlessly but have not yet traced either the baby or the unknown woman suspected of the crime. To expedite the search, they have announced a reward of Rs. 5,000 for anyone providing information about the woman.
Tight Security at Borders
Police have launched a massive operation across western Odisha. Entry points in all districts are under strict surveillance. Additionally, the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border has been sealed to prevent the escape of the suspect. Senior officers from Burla, Sambalpur, and Hirakud police stations have formed four special teams to locate the woman and the baby.
How the Incident Happened
On the night of October 24, Mohan Das from Badesajapali village in Chhattisgarh, admitted his pregnant wife to Vimsar for delivery. Early morning on October 25, she gave birth to a baby boy. After delivery, an unknown woman approached the couple under false pretenses and gained their trust. On Tuesday, she cunningly escaped with the newborn.

The shocking incident has led to intense police activity. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from various locations, including crowded areas, bus stops, and taxi stands in Burla, Hirakud, and Sambalpur. They are showing photos of the unknown woman captured on CCTV to locals to gather clues.
Mother’s Emotional State
The baby’s mother, still recovering from a cesarean delivery, is in shock and unable to stop crying. Though doctors have scheduled her discharge from the hospital for two days later, she hopes police will find the baby before then so they can return home together.
