Sambalpur: 52-Year-Old NSCB College Still Lacks Land Patta; Application Pending at Maneswar Tehsil Office

College’s Land Patta Still Not Granted

Sambalpur: Neta Ji Subhas Chandra Bose College (NSCB) in Sambalpur, a 52-year-old institution, still lacks an official land patta. Despite repeated applications from various college heads over the years, the institution has yet to receive this critical document. Senior faculty member Shyam Bhuiya, who took over in 2022, stated that his application for the land patta remains pending at the Maneswar Tehsil office. The reasons for this delay are unknown, leaving the college in a precarious situation.

Hope Renewed After Revenue Minister’s Announcement

The Revenue Minister’s announcement regarding the allocation of land pattas to all educational institutions has rekindled hope for NSCB College. The college, located on 8.86 acres of land in Sambalpur’s Footibandh area, currently serves over 2,500 undergraduate and postgraduate students. With 19 undergraduate departments and six postgraduate departments, including Odia, History, English, Economics, Political Science, and Commerce, the college serves students from Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, and surrounding villages.

Sub-Junior College Land Identified

The BJD government announced in 2022 that all educational institutions would receive land pattas. The necessary documents were prepared and submitted, but no progress has been made. Additionally, land for an NSCB-affiliated junior college has been identified in the Pilakadey Padar area. The college administration is optimistic that, with Revenue Department approval, construction on the junior college will begin soon. Despite these developments, the institution remains concerned about the public representatives’ lack of attention to the land patta issue.
