Sambalpur: 775 Senior Citizens from Western Odisha to Embark on Pilgrimage from February 7; Journey to Begin from Sambalpur

Sambalpur: The senior citizen pilgrimage scheme will soon take 775 elderly residents of western Odisha on spiritual journeys starting from Sambalpur. A preparation meeting chaired by Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Ajambar Mohanty was held to ensure the smooth execution of the program.

Travel Plans for Two Pilgrimages

The pilgrimage is divided into two phases:

  1. February 7–12: A trip covering Kolkata and Kamakhya.
  2. March 29–April 3: A journey to Ayodhya and Varanasi.

The authorities have developed detailed plans to accommodate the pilgrims, including transportation, lodging, food, and logistical arrangements at railway stations.

The 775 pilgrims are distributed as follows:

  • Sambalpur: 89
  • Bargarh: 127
  • Deogarh: 27
  • Jharsuguda: 50
  • Sundargarh: 180
  • Balangir: 141
  • Subarnapur: 52
  • Angul: 109

Key Arrangements Discussed

The meeting addressed several critical aspects, including the selection of accommodation sites, food and transportation logistics, medical checkups for pilgrims, and cultural programs during the journey. The authorities are giving special attention to ensuring convenience and smooth arrangements at railway stations.

Officials Involved

The meeting saw participation from various officials, including Chief Development Officer Prasanna Kumar Patra, Sub-Collector Dr. Pushpanjali Panda, and Chief Supply Officer Ramdas Tudu. Additional Director of the Tourism Department, Rabindra Kumar Dalei, coordinated the discussions.

Chief Minister to Inaugurate the Pilgrimage

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate the senior citizen pilgrimage scheme, making this initiative a significant milestone for the region.
