Sambalpur: 8,662 Beneficiaries in Sambalpur to Receive Increased Pension; Minister Ravinarayan Nayak Inaugurates Scheme

Minister Launches Program at District Level Event

Sambalpur: The Odisha government has fulfilled its election promises. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi distributed increased social security benefits in Keonjhar during the Janaseva Divas. Meanwhile, Panchayati Raj Minister Ravinarayan Nayak launched the benefit distribution program in Sambalpur by providing allowances to several beneficiaries.

Inclusion Under Social Security Schemes

The government included 8,662 beneficiaries under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana and the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP). This program focuses on supporting elderly individuals above 80 years old and those with over 80% disabilities. Earlier, beneficiaries received allowances of Rs. 700 and Rs. 1,000. Now, they will receive Rs. 3,500, which has brought them immense happiness.

Breakdown of Beneficiaries Across Blocks

The district administration reported that 6,793 elderly individuals above 80 years and 1,872 persons with over 80% disability would benefit from the increased allowance. Among the beneficiaries, Bamra Block has 1,135 people, Dhankauda Block has 527, Jamankira Block has 1,073, Jujumura Block has 777, Kuchinda Block has 909, Kuchinda NAC has 117, Maneswar Block has 658, Naktideul Block has 686, Redhakhol Block has 512, Redhakhol NAC has 1,361, Rengali Block has 1,108, and Sambalpur Municipal Corporation has 1,028 beneficiaries.

District Event and Government’s Commitment

At a district-level event organized at Tapaswini Hall, the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department hosted the benefit distribution. Minister Nayak, as the chief guest, highlighted the government’s welfare schemes launched over the past seven months. He particularly praised the increased paddy procurement price, which has positively impacted farmers from all sections.

Significance of the Increased Allowance

Minister Nayak emphasized that the newly increased allowance would not only help elderly and disabled individuals manage their daily expenses but also enhance their dignity within their families. The program was attended by Sambalpur MLA Jaynarayan Mishra, MP Representative Nauri Nayak, Sambalpur District Collector Siddheshwar Baliram Bondar, Sambalpur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vedbhushan, and District Social Security Officer Thabira Mahananda. Ravinarayan Satpathy extended a vote of thanks.
