Sambalpur: Tremendous danger: Roof of Sbp Branch District Co-operative Bank collapsed, staff and customers escapes due to holiday
Sambalpur: What was predicted has happened. The roof of the city branch of the Sambalpur District Co-operative Center Bank at Kunjelpada Street has collapsed. The front roof of the bank, which was run on rent, completely collapsed on Sunday. Fortunately, since the bank is closed on Sunday, the working staff and incoming customers have escaped.
According to the locals, the building was outdated. Due to heavy rains since last Friday, water is leaking from the roof and the walls have also weakened. Because of this, the roof is said to have collapsed. After receiving the news that the roof had collapsed, the bank staff arrived.
Sambalpur District Center Co-operative Bank (SDCC Bank), Sambalpur City Branch bank counter is closed during rain because this branch of the bank is being run in a very old building. Earlier it was known as Women’s Branch. Only female employees were working here. A few years later it was renamed Sambalpur City Branch. Being an old building, the wooden beams are bent. As soon as it rains, water falls on the counters for depositing and withdrawing money. Computers and other papers are covered in dust. As the rainwater falls inside the bank, the employees are also getting wet and working in that semi-wet conditions.
There are currently 7 employees in the bank. Bank is always crowded. However, staffs have to work under very miserable conditions. Customers are aware of the condition of the bank premises. Hence, going to the bank during rain is reduced. The condition of the building will be broken at any time. On asking the branch manager of the bank in this regard, he said, the bank headquarters has been informed about this problem. As the customers of the bank are mostly from the surrounding area, the house rent is being searched in the relevant area. He said that the bank will be transferred after finding a new tenant. However, even if the counters are closed during rain, banking services are provided to the customers inside, he said.
