Sambalpur: Government not listening, Teachers on group leave, Disruption of Education
Sambalpur: On the call of the Nikhil Utkal Primary Teachers Federation, Sambalpur District Primary Teachers’ Association started a protest in front of all BEO offices on Friday. On Wednesday, the teachers intensified their protest by going on group leave. The teachers issued their demands for going on group leave through the BEOs, warning that the teachers will remain on leave until the demands are met.
Due to teachers being on vacation, there has been a disruption of education in the entire district. The teachers continued their agitation in front of their respective BEO’s offices on Wednesday. Under the leadership of Dhankauda Primary Teachers Union President Cheru Patra, Urmila Bishwal, Daniel Barik, Pabitra Swain, Dinakrishna Sahu, Taranisen Meher, more than 250 teachers joined the teacher’s movement on Wednesday.
Similarly, under the leadership of Maneswar Block Teachers Union President Pramod Tripathi, Secretary Manoranjan Meher, Dhubcharan Rohidas, Rashmita Behera, Ghanshyam Pandey, Loknath Meher, Jayanti Panda, Anirudh Bishwal, Rohit Behera, teachers participated in the movement on Wednesday. The teachers continued their agitation as the government delayed in meeting their demands such as the abolition of customs, regularization of teachers of single cadre, arts, and sports teachers, the abolition of new pension system, and re-introduction of the old pension scheme.
