Sambalpur: Sambalpur Mahotsav begins on the 8th; 700 artists will be involved, Rs. 42 lakh will be spent
Sambalpur Mahotsav will begin on February 8th in Birsa Munda Ground (P.H.D Field), Ainthapali. The garlands will be brought from Samlei temple to Birsa Munda Ground on the morning of the 8th. The cultural parade will depart from Fatak, Budharaja at 10:00 a.m. and arrive at the festival area. After the Jhoti & Rangoli competition, Stalls, Manhari Haat, Meena Bazar, and the ‘Swaad Sambalpuri’ food fair will be inaugurated. At 6:30 pm poet Vinod Pashayat will inaugurate the festival, Sapan Mishra, a worker of Sambalpur Cultural Council, the organizing organization, has given information.
Mr. Mishra informed that the Sambalpuri fashion ramp walk, Sambalpuri folk dance, traditional dance, and contemporary dance will be showcased. Local, state-level tribal, and tribal Abaluptamukhi dance troupes will perform. Gayatri College artists will perform Sriram’s Gatha dance under the direction of specially prepared Master Prem. Bihu and Labani dance will be performed. A program “Saatbahani” will be served as the Samlei project is launched. The festival will be accompanied by dances and evolved songs of different tribes for seven days. On the second and third days of the festival, seminars will be held. Omnish Das and his team from Jamshedpur will perform “Samlei Gudi Tiari ra Kimbadanti Katha”. Exhibitions of photographs, paintings, handicrafts, and fine arts will also take place in the festival. Six chancellors of various universities and various leaders and high officials will also grace the stage as guests and speakers. The festival is expected to involve more than 700 artists. An expenditure of around Rs. 42 lakhs has been earmarked for the festival. Parbati Seth, Durga Dash, Sadananda Panda, and Sanjukta Mishra were prominently present in the press conference and gave various information.
