Sambalpur: Urgent Recruitment; Gangadhar Meher University Facing Faculty Shortage
Sambalpur: Gangadhar Meher University in Sambalpur, one of Odisha’s prominent educational institutions, currently faces vacancies in both teaching and non-teaching positions. Due to a lack of faculty, course syllabi were unable to be completed within the timeframe specified. Despite the state government’s emphasis on infrastructure and quality education, a teacher shortage threatens the university’s commitment to shaping students’ futures. Currently, just 2 out of 23 professorial jobs are filled, leaving 21 open. Similarly, the university employs 11 out of 35 associate professors and 55 out of 86 assistant professors.
In response to the shortages, the institution recently advertised for the hiring of 32 associate professors and 80 assistant professors. Interested applicants may apply for these roles, which will be filled initially by guest lecturers. In the lack of a permanent faculty recruiting process, students must rely on new professionals in the field.

Those nominated would be required to attend 35 classes each month and would be paid an honorarium of Rs. 40,000 per month. Newly recruited associate professors are required to engage in 60 classes each month, earning Rs. 1,000 per class, for a monthly maximum of Rs. 60,000. Similarly, new associate professors are required to engage in 60 lessons each month, earning Rs. 750 per class and a maximum of Rs. 45,000 per month. These positions will be valid for a year, or until permanent professors are recruited.
