Sambalpur: Elderly Man (55) Arrested for Allegedly Molesting a 19-Year-Old Woman
An elderly man was apprehended by the police on Friday following allegations of molesting a 19-year-old woman in the Maneswar area of Sambalpur Sadar police station. The incident reportedly occurred yesterday afternoon when the young woman went to take a bath. The accused, Sanika Munda (55) of the Bhoipali area, allegedly stalked her while she went to relieve herself. When the woman returned, she was forcibly taken to a nearby under-construction Kalyan Mandap, where she was repeatedly molested.
This was not the accused’s first time harassing the young woman. Despite past incidences, the victim had hesitated to report the situation due to fear of that elderly man. However, after being molested by the same man again while alone, she decided to come forward and submit a formal complaint at the Sadar police station.
The police quickly responded to the allegation, filing a case and conducting an investigation. The Sadar police then arrested Sanika in connection with the crime, and he was brought before the court on Friday for further legal proceedings.
