Sambalpur: Lawlessness on Sambalpur’s Roads; No Traffic, No Rules Followed
Sambalpur: The number of horrible incidents on Sambalpur highways has increased, resulting in deaths and serious injuries. Major incidents happen every day in the Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation (SMC) area, tearing families apart and leaving many with life-changing disability.
Intersections such as Ainthapali, Bareipali, and Remed Chowk have become known for reckless driving and a lack of traffic control measures, which has resulted in numerous accidents. Despite proposals for a flyover on Ainthapali Chowk, uncertainty prevails, placing pedestrians and vehicles in danger.
Even in congested places, such as Sambalpur City Station Chowk, where the recently expanded ‘Mo Bus’ service connects traffic, the lack of traffic control raises the risk. Crossing roadways without sufficient traffic control, particularly on national highways where vehicles go at high speeds, is risky.
Apart from Lakhmitalkies Chowk, the majority of the intersections lack sufficient traffic controls, highlighting the urgent need for the Sambalpur Traffic Department to address the safety concern.
