Sambalpur: Reliance Smart Store Located at Fatak Sealed by SMC for Parking Misuse
Sambalpur: The Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) has undertaken a significant action by sealing the Reliance Smart store located at Fatak. The store was using the parking area for other purposes, and counters were being used inappropriately. Therefore, it was sealed yesterday. Commissioner Ved Bhushan, along with SDPO Tofan Bag and extensive police deployment, oversaw the operation. Commissioner Bhushan stated that the store was operating illegally. The parking area was being misused, and due to the violation of the SDA agreement, the mall was sealed. They have been given instructions to clear the area and run the mall according to regulations within three days. If not complied with, the seal will not be lifted. The SMC’s action is being widely praised, and there is a demand for such measures to continue.
It is noteworthy that a general notice was issued by the SMC last April. No one can use the parking area for other purposes. Whether it is a house, apartment, or commercial establishment, action will be taken under Section 92(b) of the Mahanagar Nigam ADA Act of 1982. If instructions are not followed, strict actions will be taken, which may include fines or legal cases against the involved individuals or establishments.
Commissioner Ved Bhushan also mentioned that the SMC is taking stringent measures to address traffic issues. Actions will be taken by the Mahanagar Nigam if a building is constructed. Many shopping malls and apartments in the city are using the roads for parking, causing traffic problems. Residents face difficulties due to traffic issues daily.
Sambalpur city has many commercial establishments. During the approval of the SDA, it is mandatory to provide adequate parking arrangements. However, various institutions misuse the designated parking area for other purposes after obtaining approval, leading to vehicles being parked on the roads. This causes difficulties for people traveling on the roads. Traffic problems are increasing day by day. To prevent inconvenience to the general public, the SMC has taken this action. If commercial establishments use parking spaces as warehouses, offices, or for other purposes, they will be sealed, and the materials in the warehouses will be confiscated. According to the regulations, 30% to 40% of the land should be used for parking. With the cooperation of all establishments, the parking issues in the city can be resolved, said Ved Bhushan.
