If someone claims to be a ‘RAW’ agent and conducts a raid, Mr. Bhamu advises people to contact the nearest police station. The two accused were arraigned in court on Thursday. The police claimed that the youths working as fake ‘RAW’ agents in the Hirakud area were unaware of the fraud gang.
How the Agent Recruitment Operated
According to SP Bhamu, the mastermind had established a fake agency called ‘Rapid Action Wing – Government of India.’ The agency provided everything from identification cards to appointment letters. The mastermind first created a fake network to conduct raids in various locations. The gang targeted newly graduated students who were interested in ‘RAW’.
Last May, the gang hired six young men from the Hirakud area and charged them processing fees ranging from 3000 to 4000 rupees. They were trained to conduct raids and instructed to keep their identities and tasks confidential, with the promise of permanent appointment upon successful completion, and their primary responsibility was to seize narcotics. It has been reported that this gang also has an office in Gajapati. Sambalpur police will raid the office. Mr. Bhamu stated that the mastermind would be apprehended soon.
