Sambalpur: Minor Killed Near Police Outpost Following Previous Day’s Dispute
Victim Identified as Amit Singh from Thakurpada
Police received the news half an hour later
Sambalpur: A minor was brutally murdered near a police outpost in Sambalpur. The 17-year-old victim, Amit Singh of Thakurpada, was attacked and fatally stabbed following a dispute the day before. The incident occurred only 50 meters from the Danipali police outpost, raising serious concerns about police presence and response.
Details of the Incident
Amit Singh got into an altercation with a group of Danipali youths yesterday. Today, while Amit was in Danipali for personal reasons, members of the Biju Munda gang ambushed him. They attacked him using knives, large screwdrivers, and other sharp weapons. Amit attempted to flee to Thakurpada, but the attackers caught up with him on the Danipali bridge. They brutally stabbed him in the chest and fled the scene.

The victim’s family members arrived at the scene shortly after and rushed him to a nearby private hospital. However, doctors there declared him dead upon arrival.
Questions Raised on Police Response
The murder occurred dangerously close to the Danipali police outpost, where more than five officers are usually stationed. Despite the close proximity, the crime was not prevented, raising concerns about the police’s role and effectiveness in maintaining law and order. The outpost, which was intended to monitor and control crime in sensitive areas, appears to be failing in that regard, as theft, robbery, and now murder continues unabated.
Police Investigation Underway
According to the Sambalpur Sadar SDPO, the murder was motivated by a previous enmity between the victim and the attacker. Three to four people were believed to be involved in the crime, but none have been apprehended yet. The police have launched an investigation and stated that the culprits will be arrested soon.
