Sambalpur: Sambalpur RDC Post Finally Filled; Sachin Ramchandra Yadav Takes Over Leadership for 12 Districts
Sambalpur: After nearly two months, the position of Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) for the Northern Division has been filled. Sachin Ramchandra Yadav, a senior administrative officer, has taken over as RDC for 12 districts, including Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Subarnapur, Balangir, Sundargarh, Boudh, and Nuapada. Srikanth Prousti retired on June 30, leaving the position vacant.
Delays and Public Inconvenience
The government made no immediate appointment to fill the RDC position after Srikanth Prousti retired. Traditionally, when an RDC retires, the government appoints a senior officer in their place or assigns additional duties to an RDC from another revenue division. However, the position went unfilled this time, causing significant inconvenience not only to the general public but also to employees from the Northern Division’s 12 districts. People who traveled from distant areas for official work were disappointed and had to return empty-handed.

Operational Challenges
The lack of an RDC created a number of operational challenges. Employees had difficulty resolving personal financial claims and grievances because decisions were still pending. Furthermore, officials who served as RDCs in the interim did not prioritize organizing Revenue Divisional Committee (RPDC) meetings, causing delays in development work, particularly in industrial districts.
Focus on Comprehensive Development
Sachin Ramchandra Yadav, the new RDC, emphasized his commitment to addressing public grievances and taking necessary steps for the region’s overall development. He thanked the Chief Minister for the opportunity to serve in Sambalpur, which has deep cultural significance due to the presence of Maa Samaleshwari. Many administrative officials were present to greet him and hold courtesy meetings as he took office.
