Sambalpur: Heavy Rain Creates Flood-like Conditions in Sadar Hospital; Water Enters Patient Wards, Patients Suffer

Sambalpur: Due to heavy rainfall, Sambalpur’s Sadar Hospital became surrounded by water, resulting in an alarming situation. The downpour caused rainwater to enter the wards of the Women’s Medicine and Gynecology departments, as well as the doctors’ resting quarters. As a result, the patients’ plight worsened significantly.

This is not an isolated incident; whenever Sambalpur experiences heavy rain, the hospital encounters similar problems, leaving patients frustrated and helpless. On Monday afternoon, the city experienced heavy rain, causing water accumulation in front of various departments, including the emergency ward, resembling a flood zone. Both hospital staff and patients’ relatives found it difficult to navigate the waterlogged premises.

Flood-like Situation at Sadar Hospital

Water engulfed the hospital due to the constant rain. The patients’ and families’ misery grew worse as water entered the wards. Fortunately, the situation was under control after the rain stopped. Otherwise, there were fears that the circumstances could have escalated into a major crisis.

Lack of Proper Drainage System

According to reports, this recurring issue is caused by the hospital’s inadequate drainage system, which fails to prevent waterlogging during heavy rain.
