Sambalpur: Reels and Photo Sessions Banned at Samaleswari Temple in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: The Samaleswari Temple management in Odisha’s Sambalpur has taken a major decision to ban photo sessions, reels, and pre-wedding video shoots at the historic temple. This step was announced to protect the sanctity of the 16th-century shrine.

Reason Behind the Ban

The Sambalpur Samaleswari Trust Board decided to enforce this ban after noticing inappropriate activities during these video shoots. The President of the Temple Trust Board, Sanjay Babu, stated that this move is essential to preserve the holiness of the temple. He explained that many incidents involving obscene behavior had been observed under the pretext of making reels and videos on the temple grounds.

Previous Actions to Maintain Temple Sanctity

Earlier in April, the temple management had banned the consumption of paan and gutkha within the temple premises. They strictly prohibited the use of paan, gutkha, cigarettes, or any tobacco products. Violators of this rule face a fine of ₹500.

Ensuring Compliance and Security Measures

The trust board recently redeveloped the temple and emphasized the need to maintain its sacred atmosphere. With tourists visiting from across India and abroad, they consider it crucial to preserve the temple’s dignity. They have appointed security guards to monitor rule violations, and have installed CCTV cameras to ensure strict adherence to these regulations.
