Sambalpur: Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari Makes Surprise Visit to Aahar Kendra Near Jail Chowk, Addresses Concerns

Sambalpur: Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari recently visited the Aahar Kendra located near Jail Chowk in Sambalpur to assess the quality and service of the meals provided there. During his visit, he chose to stand in line just like an ordinary person, bought a ticket, and ate alongside the public. The Minister enjoyed a simple meal of rice, dalma, and pickle, and expressed his satisfaction with the taste.

Public Feedback and Concerns

While many people appreciated the Aahar Kendra, some expressed their concerns to the Minister. According to a few people, they were unable to obtain meal coupons prior to his arrival, raising concerns about equity. The early depletion of food supplies disappointed many people. The Aahar Kendra staff explained that meals are prepared for 500 people per day, and when demand exceeds this number, they are unable to serve everyone.

Challenges Faced by the Public

The Aahar Kendra opens at 10 a.m., but some poor laborers and families, particularly those with children or arriving from nearby hospitals, struggle with the limited food supply. Minister Pujari also noted that some people took more food than they could consume, resulting in waste.

Action to Improve Services

After seeing these issues firsthand, the Minister promised to address them. He intends to speak with the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) about increasing food supplies and addressing employee concerns. Pujari emphasized that no one should leave the Aahar Kendra without eating, and he plans to speak with the district collector and SMC commissioner to ensure better management. In addition, he intends to verify whether the meals are truly being served to 500 people or if fewer meals are being distributed while billing for more.

The Minister’s visit has brought to light several issues, and his commitment to resolving them has given hope to many who depend on the Aahar Kendra for their daily meals.
