Sambalpur: This year’s Dalaipara Ravan Podi Festival promises to be a grand affair. The event will feature performances by ten neighborhood teams showcasing traditional art forms. The festival aims to revive local culture while celebrating the symbolic burning of Ravana. The festival committee has confirmed that preparations for the grand celebration are now complete.

Towering Ravana Effigy to be Burnt
At the Dalaipara Ghat on Ring Road, a 100-foot-tall Ravana effigy will be burned by the chief guest, symbolizing the victory of good over evil. The budget for this year’s celebration is ₹10 to ₹12 lakh. The burning will end with an environmentally friendly, colorful fireworks display. The festival organizers have ensured that all facilities will be available so that the audience can enjoy the event safely. Barricades will be erected along the Mahanadi River, and strict security measures will be in place.
Support for Local Culture
This year, special efforts have been made to put local art and culture back in the spotlight. Ten teams from the surrounding areas will be recognized for their contributions. Suresh Pujari, the state’s revenue and disaster management minister, and Sambalpur MLA Jay Narayan Mishra will be the event’s chief guests. Former Higher Education Minister Rohit Pujari and senior district administration officials are also expected to attend.
The Anantram Beriha Club organized a historic event
The Ravan Podi Festival will take place at the historic Anantram Beriha Club in Dalipara, as it does every year. The 13th edition of the festival will take place on October 13, which is Vijaya Dashami. During a press conference, committee secretary Anup Taria provided information about the event. Vice-president Satyanarayan Beriha thanked all contributors, while other members, including Samarjit Pattnayak, attended the meeting.
