Sambalpur: On the eve of Police Martyrs’ Day, a suspicious box in Ainthapali caused a bomb scare, causing a massive police response. The police called in a bomb squad to investigate the box because they were concerned it might contain a bomb. Although no bomb was discovered in the box following a thorough search, the incident had already caused panic and traffic problems in the area.
Suspicious Box Found Near Shop
The incident happened in the evening near a shop in the Ainthapali police station area. A large box had been left unattended, and no one had come to claim it for quite some time. This caused concern among local residents, who suspected it might contain explosives. Around 7:30 p.m., police were notified about the suspicious bag. Because the following day was Police Martyrs’ Day, the authorities initially dismissed it, but the suspicion that someone had planted a bomb grew over time.

Bomb Squad Called
Despite waiting for someone to come forward and claim the box, no one did. This prompted the police to call in the bomb squad. Around 8:30 p.m., a three-person bomb squad arrived on the scene. One team member, dressed in bomb protection gear, began inspecting the box and moved it 10-15 feet away from its original location. However, after thoroughly inspecting the box, nothing dangerous was discovered inside.
Traffic Issues in the Area
Although the box did not contain a bomb, the scare, and subsequent road closure caused havoc in the Ainthapali area. Traffic came to a halt, leaving people stranded for over half an hour. After a few hours, things returned to normal, but the incident caused a tense atmosphere and significant traffic delays.
