Sambalpur: SMC Demolishes Encroached Wall of Dwari Engineering and Shops on Bhutapada Road

Sambalpur: For a long time, Dwari Engineering’s boundary wall encroached on the Bhutapada drain in Sambalpur. Finally, the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) enforcement squad and the Tahsildar demolished the boundary wall. Along with this, seven concrete shops, five temporary stalls, and seven garages near Bhutapada road were demolished.

The Encroachment Removal Campaign Continues

According to SMC’s enforcement officer, Sushant Sahu, the anti-encroachment drive will continue tomorrow. The plan is to widen the road between Jail Chowk and Khetrarajpur Chowk. As a result, after clearing encroachments on Mudipada Road, the SMC and Tahsildar are focusing on Bhutapada Chowk, where illegal structures have disrupted the drainage system.

Obstruction of Drainage System

For several days, the illegal construction of Dwari Engineering’s boundary wall obstructed the flow of water through the Bhutapada drain. This caused inconvenience for local residents, as the Circle Jail’s drainage system was also affected. As a result, water stagnation created a risk of future accidents.

Tension During Demolition

Tension During the Demolition Tensions rose this morning as teams from the SMC and Tahsildar arrived to demolish the wall. A business representative claimed that the demolition could not take place without prior notice. However, SMC officials clarified that they had been making regular announcements over loudspeakers well in advance. The official also stated that the wall was on government land, as designated by the Tahsildar.

Shops and Garages Demolished

After demolishing the wall, SMC bulldozed seven garages and tire shops in the area. In the afternoon, seven concrete shops and five cabins on Bhutapada Road were also demolished. The majority of these concrete shops stored asbestos, and one shop sold liquor on a regular basis. Several liquor bottles were discovered there. The administration has stated that road widening work will begin shortly following this drive.
