Sambalpur: Diwali Festivities Turn Dangerous at Vimsar; Hostels Clash Like Rival Nations

Sambalpur: While the whole country was celebrating Diwali with joy and prayers on Thursday, Vimsar in Burla saw an intense clash between two student hostels, turning their Diwali into a war-like scenario. Students in one hostel called themselves “India,” while the other referred to themselves as “Pakistan.” They took inspiration from online games and created a real-life battle where they fired rockets and crackers at each other in a risky display. A video of this dangerous event has since gone viral, causing serious concern across various circles.

The Clash Begins: Hostels Turn into “India” and “Pakistan”

According to reports, on the evening of Diwali, two hostels in Vimsar were turned into war zones. Just like two countries in conflict, the hostels created groups and fired rockets at each other. One hostel group acted as “India,” while the other took on the role of “Pakistan.” The students, wearing helmets, aimed their rockets toward the opposing hostel, firing back and forth in a display that imitated a real war.

Viral Video Sparks Outrage

As a video of this event circulated widely on social media, it sparked strong reactions from various people. Although the students appeared to be enjoying themselves, many criticized the activity as unnecessarily risky. Vimsar’s director has since expressed disappointment over the incident, remarking that such behavior is unacceptable. The incident has also led to discussions about the need for stricter measures to prevent similar activities in the future.

Inspired by Online Games, but Posing Real Dangers

Some people argue that the student’s actions were influenced by popular online battle games, where players form teams and engage in combat. However, this real-life re-enactment, with firecrackers and rockets, has sparked a debate about safety and the need for responsible celebrations. Many feel that both the students and authorities should pay more attention to the risks involved and avoid such dangerous displays during festivals.
