Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan shared that the city will address key urban issues such as clean water, drainage, sewage, road quality, street lights, and health services. The government has already started working on plans to improve these areas in partnership with the state government and district administration.

Key Initiatives for Sambalpur’s Growth

1. Preparation Begins for 200 Million Liter Capacity Water Plant

To make Sambalpur a modern city, several improvements are planned. The preparation has begun for a large water plant with a capacity of 200 million liters to meet the growing population’s needs. The city will address drainage, sewage, street lighting, and road issues to enhance city life.

2. Plan for a Ring Road and Railway Station Upgrades

In addition, plans include the development of a ring road to ease traffic around the city. Upgrades for three railway stations—Sambalpur Road, Hirakud, and Sambalpur City—are also in the pipeline, with the Indian government initiating these efforts.

3. Focus on Cleanliness, Drinking Water, and Infrastructure

Union Minister, during his visit to Sambalpur, emphasized the goal of transforming the city into a leading, well-planned urban area. He attended several cultural programs, including the ‘Kshetrajpur Citizens’ Forum’ Diwali gathering, Chhath Puja, and Anla Navami celebrations, where he reaffirmed the commitment of the government to upgrade the city. By 2050, Sambalpur’s population will continue to grow, and the city needs better infrastructure to keep up. For this purpose, a massive drinking water project has started, with the initial responsibility given to ‘Watco Odisha’ for preparing a preliminary DPR (Detailed Project Report).

4. New Initiatives for Drainage, Roads, and Street Lights

The city will see fresh designs and plans to solve drainage, road, and lighting issues, ensuring better cleanliness and urban maintenance. The Union Minister emphasized that these changes would not only enhance the quality of life but also contribute to the city’s overall development.

Union Minister’s Temple Visits

During his visit, Dharmendra Pradhan also paid respects at local temples, including the Kshetrajpur Jagannath Temple and the Ranisati Temple, adding a personal touch to his engagement with the community. However, the Union Minister’s visit and ongoing projects signal a bright future for the city.
