Sambalpur: Unauthorized Parking at Burla Medical Campus Disrupts Ambulance Services; Doctors and Staff Violate Rules

Sambalpur: Unauthorized parking has resurfaced within the Burla Medical College campus, with individuals parking vehicles in prohibited areas. This careless practice, especially in front of various wards, is causing significant issues. Ambulances transporting critical patients struggle to reach the wards due to obstructed pathways.

Shockingly, some doctors and staff members themselves are violating parking regulations, further aggravating the problem. As a result, patients and their families are facing unnecessary inconveniences.

Critical Areas Blocked by Vehicles

Vehicles, especially bikes, are parked on both sides of critical zones such as the Niramaya Center, SNCU, and Obstetrics and Gynecology departments. While a few vehicles belong to patient attendants, most are reportedly owned by doctors and staff members. Ambulances often get stuck midway near these departments, forcing attendants to carry patients on stretchers for longer distances.

Prior Parking Directives Ignored

A few months ago, the medical authorities issued strict instructions to park vehicles only in designated areas within the campus. Initially, the rules were followed. However, the situation has deteriorated again, with many ignoring the guidelines. Ironically, even the doctors and staff who are supposed to enforce discipline are among the violators.

Lack of Action Sparks Demands

Despite repeated violations, authorities have not taken any action against those responsible, including staff and doctors. This negligence has drawn criticism from various quarters, with calls for immediate intervention to restore order in the campus.

The medical authorities are now being urged to enforce parking regulations strictly to ensure smooth access for ambulances and prevent further inconvenience to patients.
