Sambalpur: Police Recovered 28 Stolen Bikes Hidden in Jungle; Two Arrested, Including a Bus Conductor
Bike Theft in the City
Sambalpur: A recent investigation uncovered a major bike theft case in Sambalpur. The stolen bikes were hidden deep in the Jarang jungle. The Ainthapali police department successfully recovered 28 stolen bikes from this location. They apprehended Ramkumar Panda (32), a bus conductor, and his accomplice, Sardul Gaigoria (39), in the Manmunda area of Boudh. Both suspects appeared in court.
Background of the Accused
Ramkumar Panda, from Birmaharajpur in Subarnapur district, worked as a conductor on the Chakadola bus route between Sambalpur and Rourkela. Although he worked as a bus conductor, he had gained experience in stealing bikes. While serving time in Beheramaharajpur jail for a previous case, he met Sardul Gaigoria. After their release, they teamed up to steal bikes from areas in Sambalpur, Sonepur, and Boudh. They hid the stolen bikes in the Jarang jungle and planned to sell them.

How the Police Were Informed
Thieves stole Dheeraj Kumar Pujari’s scooter (OD-15Q-4169) from near a park on November 9. Dheeraj reported the theft to the police. Recently, locals spotted two young men with stolen scooters near the Ainthapali bus stand and informed the Ainthapali police. Acting on this tip, SI Niladri Biswal and his team reached the location and successfully apprehended the suspects. They seized the stolen scooter from them.
Discovery of More Stolen Bikes
During questioning, the suspects admitted they stole the scooter and revealed they had hidden more stolen bikes in the Jarang jungle. The police, accompanied by the accused, went to the jungle and recovered 28 stolen bikes. Additional SP Ajay Mishra informed the press about the recovery. The accused were arrested and presented in court on Sunday.
