Sambalpur: Sambalpur Police Seized 20 Boxes of Illegal Cough Syrup; 20 Arrested, 2,272 Bottles Seized
Sambalpur: On Sunday, Sambalpur police intercepted a significant haul of 20 boxes of illegal cough syrup, arresting 20 individuals involved in the operation. The seized items included 2,272 bottles of cough syrup, cash worth Rs. 17,000, three scooters, one bike, one car, and 11 mobile phones.
Police Raid Before Distribution
Smugglers transported the illegal consignment in an unregistered pickup truck from West Bengal to distribute it in Sambalpur. Police received a tip-off and raided a location near an ice factory in Kudopali under Sadar Police Station jurisdiction, where accomplices were dividing the cough syrup for distribution.
During the raid, the vehicle fled the scene, but the authorities managed to seize the consignment and arrest the suspects.

The arrested individuals include Shivanath Oram (19) from Dumberpada, Bareipali, Gagan Bharasagar (26) from Gunderpur, Dhama, Lakshman Mahanand (20) from Dhanupali, Suraj Mirdha (22) from Khaliabandh, Abhishek Nayak (20) and Akash Behera (21) from Betrapada, Sudip Mahanand (27) from Bhatra, Dinesh Bag (20) from Khandual, Salman Ali (30) from Daleipada, Town Police Station area, Manas Purohit (28) from Mudipada, Satyabrata Mishra (25) from Deulbandh, Raju Luha (25) from Kacheri Road, Soni Mahanand (25) from Daldalipada, Khetrajpur, Amit Kumar Sahu (33) from Pathanpada, Badbazar, Ravi Debnath (20) from Bangalipada, Gulab Sahu (31) from Durgapali, Divya Shankar Pradhan (29) from Lakshmi Dunguripada, Gunasagar Sahu (34) and Abhishek Meher (21) from Sambalpur, Yadumani Pande (30) from Tilia, Banharpali, Jharsuguda.
Legal Action
All suspects will be presented before the court on Monday, according to Additional SP Haresh Pandey. Investigations are ongoing to track the network and prevent further illegal distribution.
