Visitors can spot Silver Gulls, a bird species native to Australia, gracefully gliding over the reservoir. These birds, often seen in groups, play in the water and search for food in the middle of the reservoir. Accompanying them are Great Crested Grebes, a species primarily found in Europe and Central Asia. Both species create a delightful spectacle for bird watchers.
Additionally, the Indian Spot-Billed Ducks, a native Indian species, have also been spotted in the reservoir. Their melodious chirping echoes across the water, enhancing the natural ambiance.
Birdwatchers Capture the Beauty
Bird enthusiasts are actively capturing the sights of these magnificent creatures with their cameras. Many are documenting their unique behaviors and interactions. Over time, these migratory birds will settle, build nests, and lay eggs. After their chicks hatch and grow, they will return to their native habitats with their new families.
The Hirakud Reservoir, thus, transforms into a vibrant sanctuary of life and melody during winter, offering an enchanting experience for nature lovers and tourists alike.
