Sambalpur: Journalist’s Bike Stolen from Busy Roadside in Sakhipada; Incident Captured on CCTV

Sambalpur: Sambalpur police have launched a special anti-crime drive against drugs and illegal gambling, set to run until December 31. However, amidst this crackdown, bike thieves have openly challenged the police by committing daring thefts in busy public areas.

Journalist’s Bike Stolen in Broad Daylight

In a shocking incident, a bike belonging to video journalist Badal Sendriya was stolen today around 7:40 PM near the busy Sakhipada area. The theft occurred in front of a bustling road and highlighted the lack of safety, even for media personnel. If journalists are unsafe, what can the common people expect?

Theft Caught on CCTV

The incident happened near a bank in front of Brookshill School, where the journalist had parked his bike. A thief, while talking on the phone, approached the parked bike, used a master key to unlock it, and fled the scene within moments. The entire act was recorded on nearby CCTV cameras, offering crucial evidence for the investigation.

Open Challenge to Police Authority

The brazenness of the theft, which occurred in a crowded area under CCTV surveillance, sent shockwaves throughout the city. It demonstrates that the thief was not afraid of the police. By targeting a journalist and stealing in plain sight, the criminal has directly challenged law enforcement.

Police Investigation Underway

Following the complaint, Dhanupali Police Station registered the case and initiated a search for the thief and the stolen bike. However, this incident has raised questions about the effectiveness of police vigilance and the safety of citizens in Sambalpur.

The police now face increased pressure to not only solve this case but also restore public confidence in their ability to maintain law and order.
