Sambalpur: Class 10 Student Gives Birth to Baby Girl in Naktideul; Allegations Against Local Youth Denied, Community Demands Action
Sambalpur: A 15-year-old tribal girl from Naktideul area of Sambalpur district gave birth to a baby girl at her home. The girl had been attending school until the 27th of the month. On the morning of the 29th, she experienced severe abdominal pain and informed her mother. While the mother went to a neighbor’s house for medicine, the girl unexpectedly gave birth.
Alleged Father Refuses Responsibility
The girl accused a local youth named Dasaru Kisan(19) of being the father. However, when asked, Dasaru denied the claim and refused responsibility. Despite attempts to address the issue in a family meeting, he maintained that he had no involvement with the girl.

Immediate Response and Medical Assistance
After learning of the situation, local Anganwadi and ASHA workers from the remote area assisted in transporting both the mother and the newborn to Naktideul’s hospital for treatment. Due to the girl’s critical condition, she was transferred to Burla Hospital around 8 p.m. that same evening.
Investigation and Police Involvement
Naktideul’s Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Rebati Behera, visited the police station around 7:30 p.m. to file a formal complaint. Meanwhile, police are questioning the accused Dasaru, as the school officials and family members were unaware of any relationship or connection between the girl and him before the incident occurred.

The incident has sparked concerns and raised many questions about how such a situation went unnoticed by both the school authorities and the family until the girl’s delivery. The ongoing investigation aims to clarify the details and assign responsibility.
