Sambalpur: Leopard Rani Passes Away in Sambalpur Zoo; Uterus Infection Identified as the Cause of Death

Sambalpur: Leopard Rani, a resident of Sambalpur Zoo in Odisha, recently passed away. According to the DFO of Hirakud Forest Division, she succumbed to a uterus infection despite ongoing treatment.

Introduction to Enclosure

Last month, authorities moved Rani to a common enclosure. She was introduced to another leopard, Raja, brought from Nuapada. Before being kept together, both animals underwent medical check-ups and appeared healthy.

Sudden Illness and Treatment

However, a few days after being placed in the enclosure, Rani fell ill. The zoo staff began her treatment promptly, aiming to address her health issues. Unfortunately, her condition worsened, and she passed away.

At the time of her death, Rani was 7 years old. Her passing highlights the need for regular health monitoring and enhanced care for animals in captivity to prevent such tragic losses.
