Sambalpur: Thelkoloi’s Dahi Bara Seller Falls Victim to Cyber Fraud; Loses Rs 94,000 After Calling Fake Flipkart Customer Care Number
Sambalpur: A dahi bara (street food) seller named Mithilesh Sa from Thelkoloi became a victim of cyber fraud and reported the incident to the Thelkoloi police. He had ordered a home theatre worth Rs. 2,500 from Flipkart but canceled the order as he was dissatisfied with the product. However, the company failed to collect the returned product or issue a refund for several days.
How the Scam Unfolded
Mithilesh was frustrated by the delay, so he looked up Flipkart’s customer service number on Google and called it. The person on the other end, pretending to be a company representative, assured Mithilesh that they had resolved the problem. During the conversation, the scammer skillfully obtained Mithilesh’s bank account information under the guise of processing a refund.

Soon after Mithilesh shared his account details, the scammer withdrew Rs. 94,000 from his bank account. Mithilesh immediately approached the police to lodge a complaint after realizing that scammers had cheated him.
