Traditional Kansa Nagar Parikrama Held with Festivity
Today, the historic and culturally rich Kansa Nagar Parikrama took place with immense enthusiasm. King Kansa, portrayed by actor Phanindra Panda, rode majestically on an elephant while parading through the city in his signature dramatic style. Meanwhile, actor Swadhin Panda, playing the role of a spy, along with other performers, participated actively in the parade. Their dynamic performances amplified the festive atmosphere, drawing cheers from the audience.
Dramatic Mythological Performances Captivate Audience
Several important mythological scenes were enacted during yesterday’s evening performances, captivating the audience with their dramatic storytelling. The performances included the mysterious birth of Kansa, the dethroning of King Ugrasen, and the coronation of Kansa as the king, followed by the wedding of Devaki. The narrative further unfolded with Narada Muni’s guidance to Kansa and the divine prophecy warning him about his downfall. The emotional intensity heightened with the imprisonment of Devaki and Basudev, culminating in the tragic death of Devaki’s firstborn at Kansa’s hands.
These powerful enactments kept the essence of the ancient legend alive while effectively promoting cultural heritage and traditional storytelling.
