Sambalpur: Dr. Shankar Ramchandani runs the famous ‘Tankikia Clinic’ in Burla, where over a hundred patients visit daily for medical services, paying just one rupee. His selfless service has earned him multiple awards from various organizations. Despite the recognition, he continues to serve poor patients tirelessly.
Fundraising for an ECG Machine
Recently, Dr. Ramchandani wanted to purchase an ECG machine for his clinic to assist poor patients better. To raise funds, he decided to auction a small glass jar (“Kupi”) used by children to store coins. He shared this plan on Facebook, hoping to gather support.
The Unexpected Buyer
Sudhanshu Shekhar Mishra, a resident of Greater Sambalpur near JMJ Medical Hospital, noticed Dr. Ramchandani’s post. Without delay, he reached out to the doctor and offered to buy the jar. Surprisingly, Mishra paid Rs. 40,000 for the simple jar, leaving Dr. Ramchandani in disbelief.

A Heartfelt Explanation
When Dr. Ramchandani asked Mishra why he paid such a large amount for a simple jar, Mishra replied emotionally:
“This jar holds the faith and blessings of countless poor patients. By purchasing a new ECG machine with this money, thousands of patients will benefit. I believe the jar contains not just coins but blessings for me and my family. I will keep this jar safe for the rest of my life.”
A Noble Act of Gratitude
Dr. Ramchandani expressed his deep gratitude to Mishra, saying that often celebrities auction personal items like clothes and sports gear, with the money benefiting them directly. However, this jar’s auction proceeds would directly help poor patients.
More Auctions, More Support
Following this touching incident, Dr. Ramchandani auctioned two more jars. Mangalu Nishad and Ashwini Nath from Boudh purchased them for Rs. 30,000 each, contributing to the noble cause.
A Symbol of Faith and Kindness
This heartwarming story reflects the power of kindness and how small acts can make a big difference in society. Dr. Ramchandani continues to inspire many with his relentless service to the underprivileg.
