Public Outrage and Road Block
The accident sparked widespread anger among local residents. People blocked the national highway in protest and even damaged the truck involved. Hundreds of vehicles were stuck on both sides of the road for nearly an hour as the protest continued. Police arrived on the scene and convinced the crowd to clear the blockade, assuring action against illegal parking and proper compensation for the victim’s family.
Repeated Accidents Due to Illegal Parking
This was not the first accident on this service road. Frequent mishaps continue to occur due to illegal parking along the Sambalpur-Deogarh national highway. Just a few days ago, two students died near Remed-Gopalpali after a truck ran them over.
Call for Action
Residents have strongly demanded the immediate removal of illegal parking spots along the service road. They blame both the police and the transport department for their negligence, which they believe is a major cause of such accidents. Authorities must take strict measures to prevent further loss of lives.
