Raid at Sambalpur Residence and Office
Sambalpur: The Income Tax Department conducted a raid at the residence and office of Braja Kishore Das, brother of late minister Naba Kishore Das, in Sambalpur. More than 20 officers were involved in the raid, which took place at his BJD Infrastructure office and other locations. Several contractors and builders linked to Braja Kishore’s construction company, BKD Constructions, were also under scrutiny.
Nationwide Operation in Over 40 Locations
The raid was part of a larger nationwide operation across more than 40 locations, including Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Balangir, Kantabanji, Boudh, and Bhubaneswar. IT officials also raided premises in Chhattisgarh and Delhi simultaneously.

Cash and Important Documents Seized
During the raid, cash and important documents were seized. However, officials have not disclosed the exact reason behind the sudden raid. The Income Tax Department is investigating possible tax evasion and financial irregularities involving contractors linked to BKD Constructions.
Multiple Contractors Under Scanner
Apart from Braja Kishore, six other contractors were raided, including prominent names from Balangir, Kantabanji, Bangomunda, and Muribahal areas. Among them were contractor Jagadeep Bansal from Kantabanji, Prithviraj Patra from Muribahal, and builder Neeraj Agrawal from Balangir. Several offices, residences, and petrol pumps were searched, with officials seizing documents related to financial transactions and contracts.
Past Raids on Braja Kishore Das
This is not the first time Braja Kishore Das has faced a tax raid. His construction company has been involved in multiple government infrastructure projects across the country. However, the Income Tax Department has not officially revealed the findings or the motive behind the current raids.
