Sambalpur: Bike Stolen from DHH in Broad Daylight; Questions Raised Over Hospital Security System

Bold Theft in Broad Daylight

Sambalpur: A thief stole a bike from the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) premises in broad daylight, even as security guards were present. The incident has raised serious concerns about security inside the hospital.

The victim, Basanta Kumar, parked his bike and went inside the hospital. However, when he returned after some time, the bike was missing. After searching for a while, he checked the CCTV footage, which confirmed that someone had stolen his bike. He immediately filed a complaint at the Town Police Station.

Repeated Thefts, No Action Taken

This is not the first time a theft has occurred at DHH. Several similar incidents have been reported earlier, yet security guards have failed to prevent them. Despite their presence, thieves continue to operate freely in the hospital premises.

Police Assures Quick Action

After receiving the complaint, the police assured that they would investigate the matter and arrest the culprit soon. However, the inefficiency of security guards, who are paid lakhs of rupees every month, has sparked public outrage.

Security Lapses and Rising Crime in Hospital Premises

Apart from thefts, the hospital premises have also witnessed violent incidents. A few months ago, a broker from a private clinic assaulted a man from Redhakhol in front of his wife and daughter. Shockingly, the security guards did not intervene. It was only after bystanders stepped in that the situation was controlled. The security personnel arrived at the scene only after the incident had already escalated.

Public Demands Better Security Measures

With repeated crimes inside the hospital, people are now demanding strict action against negligent security guards and a better system to ensure the safety of patients and visitors.
