Exciting Food Street Experience in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Sambalpur now has its own ‘Khao Gali’, similar to Bhubaneswar! Union Minister and MP Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated ‘Swad Sambalpur’ near Jail Chowk. The event saw the presence of Panchayati Raj Minister Rabinarayan Nayak, MLA Jaynarayan Mishra, former MLA Nauri Nayak, North Zone Revenue Commissioner, IG Police, Collector, SP, Municipal Commissioner, and other officials.

What’s Special About This Food Hub?

The food street features 14 food stalls, offering a variety of local and popular snacks. According to the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC), this is the first-ever food street in Sambalpur. The project was developed under the MUKTA Scheme through the Shree Jagannath Self-Help Group at a cost of Rs. 30 lakh. Following the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) guidelines of the Government of India, the construction utilized recycled materials such as iron and broken construction waste. Designers shaped the nameplate of Swad Sambalpur like a leaf, adding to its eco-friendly appeal and symbolizing sustainability and a green city message.

A Clean and Plastic-Free Zone

To maintain cleanliness, each stall has separate dustbins for wet and dry waste. Additionally, plastic use is strictly banned to ensure an eco-friendly environment.

Extended Timings for Food Lovers

The food street will remain open until 11 PM every day. In the future, authorities will take further steps to enhance facilities for both vendors and customers, ensuring a better experience. Municipal Commissioner Vedbhushan confirmed that the initiative aims to promote sustainability, hygiene, and a lively food culture in Sambalpur.
