Long Queues and No Staff in Sight

Sambalpur: Patients visiting the dressing room at Sambalpur District Hospital are facing severe mismanagement. At night, there are no staff members available, and even in the morning, they arrive late. Patients wait in long queues, but no staff is present to attend to them on time.

Patients Forced to Buy Medicines & Pay Extra Money

Even though this is a government hospital, patients still have to buy dressing materials and medicines from outside. Shockingly, some staff members demand extra money from patients for faster dressing services. This has become a major problem for patients who come from poor backgrounds.

Delayed Services & Long Waiting Hours

Relatives of patients complain that in the morning, the dressing ward remains empty, with no staff available. Patients are forced to wait for hours, standing in long queues outside the dressing room. Even when staff members come, they arrive very late, causing further delays in treatment. In most cases, only one or two employees manage the entire ward, leading to a chaotic situation.

Ward Boys Performing Stitches Instead of Professionals

In a shocking revelation, instead of professional medical staff, ward boys are performing stitches on patients. Many complaints have been reported about incorrect stitching, which could lead to severe complications.

CDMO Denies Allegations of Mismanagement

Dr. Sujata Rani Mishra, the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), has denied these allegations, stating that eight staff members are appointed for dressing services, which are available 24/7 for patients. She also emphasized that all essential materials are regularly stocked in the hospital store, ensuring that patients do not need to buy anything from outside. However, she admitted that in a few cases, some staff members had demanded extra money. The hospital administration has already warned them and assured strict action against anyone caught doing so.

Advice for Patients & Their Families

The CDMO has urged patients and their families not to pay extra money for faster services. If any staff member demands money, they should report it immediately so that strict action can be taken.
