How the Incident Happened
As per reports, on Sunday, Kadir was caught stealing from a warehouse in Jhankarpada, Hirakud. Local residents handed him over to the police. After his arrest, the police were preparing to present him in court. However, on the way, Kadir reportedly fell sick. The police first took him to the district hospital, but as his condition worsened, they transferred him to Burla. Unfortunately, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Police Response and Investigation
SDPO Baleshwar Giddhi confirmed that the incident occurred while Kadir was in police custody. However, the police have not admitted to any wrongdoing. His family and local residents strongly believe that he died due to severe police assault. They are demanding a high-level inquiry and CCTV footage review from the police station.
Demand for CCTV Footage Review
Kadir’s family and local people refuse to accept the police’s explanation. They insist that excessive beating led to his death.
