Violence Returns After Long Silence

Sambalpur: After months of peace, group rivalry resurfaced in Burla today, sparking a violent clash between two groups. The incident took place in broad daylight in front of the Kachha Market area, creating tension in the town.

Sudden Attack Near Market

A car (bearing registration number OR-02-AL-7122) belonging to one group was heading through the town when it was suddenly attacked near Kachha Market. Members of the rival group reportedly threw sticks and stones at the vehicle without warning.

Elderly Pedestrian Hit

As the car tried to speed away from the scene, it accidentally hit an elderly man. He sustained serious injuries and was immediately taken to Vimsar hospital for treatment.

Fear Spreads Among Car Occupants

Meanwhile, the youth sitting inside the attacked car panicked and fled the spot. The attackers also escaped quickly after the incident.

Police Begin Investigation

Burla police reached the location soon after and launched an investigation. At the time of reporting, police had not arrested anyone involved. However, according to Burla police sources, strict measures will soon be taken to bring the ongoing group conflict under control.
